Project Description
The Blue Street Project was part of the interventions for the conservation of AlUla Old Town. HCC has been engaged to implement the installation of temporary propping, shoring and scaffolding systems, to stabilize all the structures at risk of collapse, before the launch of archaeological cleaning, and to execute remedial works for structural stabilization and preventive conservation treatment for all structures.
HCC supported the archaeological cleaning program and removal of collapsed material inside the 41 houses. The main objectives of this project:
Propose a secure and safe Pathway, taking tourists and visitors to discover part of AlUla Old Town history, urban fabric, and architecture. This pathway is linking 4 important milestones: the pilot area at the extreme south of AlHalaf quarter with Hasnah Gate(Gate N01); the Tantora plaza; a sequence of 3 important historic mosques; and finally, Mussa bin Nussair Citadel.Propose an “Open air conservation museum” presenting a large workshop with archaeologists, architects and conservators working at the same time and demonstrating best practices in the field of heritage conservation: manipulating materials; applying adapted techniques; and reviving local knowhow.
Implement and execute urgent remedial work for the structural stabilisation and conservation of street facades, tayarahs, andadjacent 41 houses.
