Project Description
The Yellow Street Project is one of the interventions foreseen within RCU’s initiatives for the Conservation of Oasis and Old Town in AlUla.
HCC has been engaged as a main contractor to:
1. To conserve and restore the units and tayarah’s along both sides of Yellow Street in Old Town and create a safe and clear route for visitors.
2. To provide a restoration proposal in order to reinstate the original volumetry and protect the buildings from further deterioration.
3. To document and record graphically and photographically the architecture, construction methods, conservation processes and materials in all buildings.
4. To provide data for future research, conservation and restoration work by documenting the conditions of the houses and structures before, during and at the end of restoration works
To present an “open air conservation museum” showcasing a workshop with archaeologists and conservation specialists together demonstrating best practices in the field of heritage conservation: manipulating materials, applying adapted techniques, and reviving local know-how.
