The main objectives of the project were:
– Carry out the 3D laser scanning documentation of these four sites
– To develop historical, archaeological, and architectural studies
– To assess the condition of the urban fabric and all significant historic buildings
– To advise and provide Al-Torath International best practice guidelines in the field of heritage conservation

Project Description

As part of the conservation and development project of four historic seaports on the Red Sea launched in 2017 by SCTH (The Saudi Commission for Tourism and Heritage), HCC Heritage Conservation Consulting signed a subcontract with Altorath International Engineering Consultants, a company located in Abu Dhabi and responsible for carrying out the development studies. Our expertise in the field of heritage conservation was required to undertake the 3D laser scanning documentation of these four sites, and to develop historical, archaeological, and architectural studies as well as assess the condition of the urban fabric and all significant historic buildings.

The role of HCC was also to advise and provide to Altorath International best practice guidelines in the field of heritage conservation.
